Brandisii, Velvet Leaf Bamboo (Dendrocalamus brandisii)
A giant timber bamboo; in its native India it growing 36 metres, (the tallest bamboo in the world; though unlikely to achieve that in our climate). The culms, leaves and shoots are all covered with velvet like hairs. Large diameter, thick-walled and strong timber combined with large delicious shoots make it a very useful ornamental.
